The Red Devil she’s called
A drug so potent
She kills the cancer
Wreaking havoc all over
She kills and she kills
The good and the bad
My blood counts drop
They never stood a chance
Lower and lower
I become dizzy and weak
Until one day
I can’t stay on my feet
To the hospital I go
They poke and they prod
You need more blood
They tell me, I nod
A stranger’s blood
Via a blood transfusion
I’m anxious yet hopeful
Letting go of delusion
The Red Angel I call her
In she goes
The stranger’s blood
Becomes my own
A stranger so kind
An act so selfless
Humanity is beautiful
I remind myself
