Still I Rise
When the tears are hot
And my eyes are swollen
Still I Rise
When pain is a companion
Instead of a visitor
Still I Rise
When the mirror reflects a stranger
Still I Rise
When I wait to hear what’s next
for my tired body
Still I Rise
I rise because like a flower emerging
from the dark, depth of dirt,
I too am just starting to bloom
