Exploring and shaping identity is a complex, ongoing process that is both a unique and shared experience among AYA caregivers. You’re certainly not alone in navigating the intricacies of identity, self-perception, and the ways others perceive you as a result of your loved one’s cancer. Join our two part Discussion Series this month to connect with other members of the AYA caregiver community regarding the intricacies of caregiver identity.

AYA Cancer and AYA Caregiver Identity. . . It’s Complicated: March 11

When you are an AYA caregiver, things can feel really complicated. You may have thought you had your life and yourself figured out. But, along came cancer, and now you have to navigate your personal and professional responsibilities, plus whatever is left of your social life, within the framework of cancer. This session will explore what it means to identify as a caregiver, while not letting it run the show and be your only identity.

I’m Me, NOT My Loved One’s Cancer!: March 18

Cancer can shift the ways you perceive yourself and the ways others perceive you. You’re definitely not alone if you feel like you’re solely identified or defined by your role as a caregiver. Join us for a conversation with fellow AYA caregivers who are navigating what it looks like to not be defined by cancer. Plus, learn techniques to increase positive self-perception while decreasing the negative effects of toxic positivity and others labeling you as your cancer.
