“I feel alone when I’m surrounded by friends…” That song lyric sticks out so much for me now. Even though this song was written about love and had nothing to do with cancer, this particular lyric can ring true for a person going through cancer.

I decided that June 1st is my cancerversary. Technically it is, give and take a few days. I was diagnosed one year ago. Something about the first that connotes a fresh start, a new beginning, a new chapter. I guess having a cancer diagnosis is exactly that one way or another.
