Session #6 – AYAs’ Priorities for Care While Living With Advanced Cancer

Quality measures have been developed for older adults with advanced cancer, but AYAs’ preferences for care may differ. Our team worked to develop a patient-centered definition of high quality care for AYAs with advanced cancer. Using interviews with AYAs, family caregivers, and clinicians, we identified 7 core domains of high quality care: Attention to physical symptoms, attention to quality of life, psychosocial and spiritual support, communication and decision-making, independence, relationships with clinicians, and medical care and treatment. We will discuss these areas and ways to support patient-centered care in each domain.
