Parents who are LGBTQIA+ experience additional alienation due to discrimination in healthcare, provider bias, underrepresentation in research and estrangement from family support. They face higher rates of emotional distress due to a myriad of disparities. When they reach out for support they may be met with open hostility and hatred, or ignored completely. Even welcoming support spaces may not reflect their experiences.\nJoin our panel to learn more about how to navigate medical systems and support resources as an LGBTQIA+ parent with cancer. You’ll hear from Scout, the Executive Director of LGBTQI+ Cancer Network ( https://cancer-network.org/ ), as well as three parents who have lived experience. This panel is a valuable opportunity for providers to gain insight into the patient experience so they can foster safer and more inclusive care for their LGBTQIA+ patients.\nAll parents with cancer, loved ones, nonprofit partners and members of cancer care teams are welcome to attend.\n
