SUMMARY:Death Chat: AYA Cancer Edition
DESCRIPTION:Death Chat: AYA Cancer Edition\nRegister here\nTuesday, December 17, 2024\n7:00pm – 9:00pm ET\nJoin us online for connection and exploration with your AYA peers around a topic that is all too large in our lives, but rarely talked about: death + dying. Acknowledging our mortality is a way to further clarify what matters in our lives. With cancer, it can feel like there is so little control, but end-of-life planning and considering what truly matters to you is a place where you can and should focus solely on your own wants and needs. It’s your chance to move away from caretaking others’ experiences and give back to yourself. We will start with a welcome + settling practice, do short introductions, and then dive into a prompted question. From there, we will let the conversation go where it may.\nPlease note, this is not a grief support group. While grief is welcome, as it is a huge part of death considerations, this in not a space to process in the way that group or individual therapy would be. If you are feeling particularly raw around an acute incident, perhaps the death of someone close to you, that would impede your ability to take these considerations in for yourself, consider attending a different session. The goal of this group is to help you navigate your own wants, wishes, feelings, and beliefs.\nWe are capping attendance at 15 people to give everyone adequate time to share. We ask that you be visible on camera to create the safest space possible (we have had experience with people being off-camera and negatively impacting the group). Blurred backgrounds are fine, laying in bed is fine, we want to be sure to see your face, exactly as you are. Everyone is welcome, just as they are.\nJulia de’Caneva, your host, is a fellow AYA cancer experiencer (thyroid cancer) and professional space holder. She has done trainings in Mindfulness Facilitation at UCLA, Health Coaching through IIN, and a Death Doula training through Going With Grace, amongst a host of other certifications. She draws on her experience guiding professional home organizing clients through end-of-life organizing, and her own cancering to create a container that is conducive to sharing, respect, and exploration.\n
