SUMMARY:AYAs’ Priorities for Care While Living with Advanced Cancer
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Jennifer Mack, MD.\nQuality measures have been developed for older adults with advanced cancer, but AYAs’ preferences for care may differ. Our team worked to develop a patient-centered definition of high quality care for AYAs with advanced cancer. Using interviews with AYAs, family caregivers, and clinicians, we identified 7 core domains of high quality care: Attention to physical symptoms, attention to quality of life, psychosocial and spiritual support, communication and decision-making, independence, relationships with clinicians, and medical care and treatment. We will discuss these areas and ways to support patient-centered care in each domain.\n
